The three rums overlap in flavor, making it very refreshing, fruity, tropical, and easy to drink, but because it is a long cocktail with a high alcohol content, the total alcohol content when consumed is high, making it a bit dangerous. Audrey Hepburn drinks this cocktail in the party scene of the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The original Zombie Cocktail was created by Donn Beach for his restaurant Donn the Beachcomber in 1934. Donn is said to have created this drink for a man who needed help curing a hangover before a business meeting. This hungover customer returned to Donn's bar a few days later and complained that the drink had made him a "zombie" for the entire trip. Donn the Beachcomber, along with many other bars and restaurants that serve the drink, limits customers to two bottles per person, and Donn explains that the drink can make a person "like the walking dead" because of its eye-popping alcohol content.
